Best colleges in america - here 'best' means 'friendly'.
At one time it might have been difficult to find out where you would be most accepted as an openly gay or lesbian college student in the United States. But now The Princeton Review is doing the work for you. The Ivy League publication polled 110,000 students at 361 top colleges for its annual review and found that New College of Florida in Sarasota now ranks as the gay-friendliest campus in the nation. Who's the least gay-friendly? Hampden-Sydney College, an all-male liberal arts school in Virginia. "All of the schools in this book are academically outstanding," says Robert Franek, the survey's lead author. "But no school is best for all students. That's why our book has 62 different ranking lists and campus feedback about the schools not reported elsewhere." Top five gay-friendliest colleges in the U.S.: New College of Florida, Sarasota, Fla. Macalester College, St. Paul, Minn. Wellesley College, Wellesley, Mass. Eugene Lang College, New York City Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass.
